Q: What is Chiropractic?
- Chiropractic is a branch of the healing arts, and as a science is based on the
premise that good health depends, in part, upon a normally functioning
nervous system. When body structures such as cells and organs are
functioning normally, a state of health or normal physiology is said to exist.
However, when the body's physiology is abnormal due to a subluxation or
restriction, a disease state begins.
Q: What is a subluxation/ restriction?
- Your nervous system controls how you move and how you feel. Your spinal
nerves pass through your spinal column, which is comprised of 24 moveable
joints. These joints can become misaligned as a result of daily stress, poor
posture, improper lifting, a car accident, or even a vigorous sneeze! Spinal
misalignments can cause your spinal nerves to become compressed,
stretched, or irritated, interrupting nerve flow to cells, organs, and tissues
throughout your body. Without proper nerve transmission, your body's vital
systems can malfunction, including your immune system. This is what is known
as a subluxation. By removing nerve interference with gentle adjustments,
Chiropractic allows you to enjoy optimal health without using drugs or surgery!
Q: Why should I get chiropractic care even if I am not in pain?
- Pain is often the last symptom to surface when you have a spinal health
problem. Doctors of Chiropractic are trained to detect early signs of
degeneration, long before any symptoms occur. That's why you need
Chiropractic care even when you're not in pain. We can help detect areas of
your spine that are out of alignment. Then, we can correct these "problem"
areas before they lead to greater dysfunction and pain. Not only can you
prevent pain but also as mentioned before, it keeps your body at an optimal
level to function properly and prevent disease. Your electronic equipment
could not function with interference so how do you expect your body to?
Q: What is that “cracking” noise? Are those the bones cracking?
- NO! The noise that you hear when you are adjusted is actually gas being
released in the joint. Each joint is surrounded by a capsule filled with fluid.
When the joint is placed back into place nitrogen gas is released from the fluid
causing the “cracking” noise.
Q: Are patients really satisfied with Chiropractic care?
- Absolutely. The Gallup Organization found that 9 out of 10 patients find
Chiropractic care effective!!
Q: Is it safe?
- Very safe. All you have to look at is the malpractice insurance which is as little
as $800 for chiropractors and up to $125,000 for medical doctors. You know
insurance companies are not in business to lose money.
Q: Are chiropractic adjustments painful?
- Most patients report no pain at all associated with an adjustment. Many say
they can “feel” the pressure removed from their spine immediately. Some even
say they feel a sense of total relaxation afterwards.
Q: Is it expensive?
- Absolutely not! A schedule of 1-2 visits a month to keep you healthy amounts
to very little. Can you even put a price tag on your health anyway?
